Our client is a niche but growing business with a number of construction projects ranging from smaller housing developments to large commercial premises on their books. As a result of their growth plans, they have identified the need for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to oversee their team of Quantity Surveyors who were previously reporting in to the Operations Director.

Based in the South West, the role will be responsible for managing 5 Quantity Surveyors currently, all of whom are centred in the South West region, but there is a plan to double this over the next 3 years as our client expands beyond the South West. As this growth occurs, a requirement to travel further afield, particularly the South and Midlands will be necessary - both to manage projects and people.

The successful candidate will require excellent people management skills as well as a proven track record in managing a team across multiple sites and projects. The role will be expected to trouble shoot within client meetings so excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills will also need to be evidenced. The role will require day to day involvement in projects so core Quantity Survey skills and experience are mandatory.

A commercial focus is essential, and the successful candidate will have oversight of each projects budget and timescales ensuring successful delivery across both aspects. Achieving maximum profitability across each project will be critical and there is also a generous performance related pay scheme on offer based on a number of factors including individual project profit.
